TDP leads, but only just, in Anantapur

In the 14 constituencies in the district the TDP is ahead but only slightly. The TDP is most likely to win in Tadipatri, Kalyan Durga, Hindupur , Penukonda , Kadiri and Raptadu. The last mentioned is the hometown of Paritala Ravi who was assassinated in 2004. His wife Paritala Suneetha is expected to easily register a thumping victory. But the biggest upset could be in Kalyan Durga where, according to our survey Congress’s Minister for Agricultiure Raghuveera Reddy is likely to lose. Another big upset for the Congress would be Tadipatri, which could see Minister J C Diwakar Reddy being unseated. The Congress on its part is most likely to win Anantapur Urban, Madaksira , Guntakal and Puttaparthi. Our survey points out that the PRP is even unlikely to open its account in Anantapur. Though the TDP holds the lead here in Anantapur, there are three segments that are too close to call. They are Rayadurg, Uravakonda and Singanamala. Ramachandra Reddy (Congress) in Rayadurg is battling it out with Govinda Reddy of the TDP. Congress’s Visveswara Reddy in Uravakonda is fighting it out with Kesav of the TDP. And in the SC constituency of Singanamala, Sailajanath of the Congress is having a stiff battle with Samanthakamani of the TDP. These three will determine who wins Anantapur in 2009.
