CNN, NDTV and India Today predict Congress victory in AP

If surveys conducted by reputed media channels CNN and NDTV and the widely read magazine India Today are any indication the ruling Congress will recapture power in the assembly and Lok Sabha elections to be held in the next 10 days. YSR’s government will be the first Congress government in 30 years to recapture power for the second consecutive term. The last time this happened was in 1978. YSR’s move to drop 53 of the 185 sitting MLAs has been seen as a proactive measure that had little or minimal dissidence as compared to the other parties. India Today says “never has the Congress gone to the polls with such confidence since the rise of the TDP in 1982.” The report goes on to add that “Incumbency is to his (Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s) advantage like it has been for Narendra Modi, Sheila Dikshit and Shivraj Singh Chouhan.” The Mahakutami is described in the article as a group of “incompatible allies” plaugued with “inherent differences and priorities”
