TDP accuses Y S Rajasekara Reddy of corruption

Levelling a slew of corruption charges, including misuse of power, against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekara Reddy, the TDP-led alliance today accused the Centre of turning a "blind eye" to his activities.

The alliance partners -- TDP, TRS, CPI(M) and CPI -- released two documents, what they called the "clinching evidence" against Reddy and asked the Centre to initiate "immediate prosecution" under relevant laws.

"The Chief Minister has abused power. He has violated all the acts in the country to promote the companies owned by his son Jaganmohan Reddy and family members. But the Centre hasn't taken any action," TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu told a crowded press conference here.

He was flanked by TRS chief K Chandrasekara Rao, CPI(M) state secretary B Raghavalu and CPI leader Narayana.

The leaders alleged that Reddy's family floated a network of companies into which proceeds of corruption are routed in the form of purchase of shares of such companies at huge premiums.

They also levelled serious charges against Jaganmohan Reddy and 'Sakshi' newspaper owned by him.

"If we just take three out of the 16 companies floated by the CM's family, it is now richer by a fabulous corporate assets of Rs 10,000 crore," Naidu said.

They said they will meet President Pratibha Patil, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and leaders of various parties to expose Reddy.
