Harikrishna (seen with Palem Srikanth Reddy at TD’s Mahanadu) is a man who strikes you as someone who is straight and forthright in his thought process. Like his dad he is an instinctive person who does not believe in complicating things. With him “what you see is what you get.” He is also a keen reader of political situations. TD insiders, on numerous occasions have told this correspondent that he was one of the very few in the party to object to the party’s alliance with the TRS. From the beginning Harikrishna was in no doubt that the alliance with TRS would end disastrously for the TDP. He should have known, for he was the one who interacted with party’s workers at the simhagarjana in Guntur, which, by the way, was his brainchild. He is an extremely hard working person with excellent grass roots connection. If there is one leader in the TDP who has seen the party grow from ground-up it is Harikrishna. Back in 1982-83, he was the charioteer for NTR’s Chaitanya Ratham. Like NTR, he is a samaikhyavadhi. More importantly he never backs out of a challenge and he more than anyone has the “fighter-like” qualities to take on a well entrenched YSR. Unlike Chandrababu , Harikrishna does not carry with him any baggage of distrust. He comes across as somebody who is very believable and mature. Above all he has the backing of the sole trump card that the TDP has – NTR Jr. For more reasons than one he is the leader that the TDP should be betting on, going forward.
