Abdul Aziz is a 25-year old software engineer from Medak. He was having tea with this correspondent in the Company’s cafeteria when the topic inevitably turned to Saturday’s results. Aziz merely shook his head sadly. He said “I wasted my vote. I voted for Vijayasanthi for the LS, and I think that was the stupidest thing I could have done in my life.” He blames the misleading rhetoric of the TRS chief Chandrasekhara Rao and said he would never again make the mistake of aligning himself to such a whimsical party which according to him has no political tact or maturity. He said thousands of minority youth like him, across religions, were mislead by the rhetoric of KCR. But when KCR jumped ship to the BJP, they experienced a sharp sense of betrayal. At the Friday namaaz, his friends were discussing how the TRS chief had betrayed them by aligning with the BJP. Aziz told this correspondent that he was a staunch TDP loyalist and that’s why he voted for its ally the TRS. Now Aziz is not sure anymore. He says if his brother’s capitation fee reimbursement occurs he will switch sides to the Congress.
