How the TDP lost the plot in Telengana
Talasani Srinivas Yadav the TDP candidate in Secunderabad was left bewildered at the result in Secunderabad’s assembly segment. He watched in disbelief as Congress’s Jayasudha a rank new comer with no political experience beat him to the winner’s post. A close aide to the veteran TDP leader said Yadav on seeing the results, was fuming at Chandrababu’s lack of judgement on Telengana. He said as long as the TDP stuck to its Samaikhya Andhra stand, the party could have won at least 10 more seats in Hyderabad and RR Districts alone. He said Secunderabad was home to a large number of migrants and they were obviously irritated by KCR’s insensitive pronouncements on the “settlers.” He is supposed to have told this aide that all Jayasudha had to do was to stand there , flash a smile and wave her hand, which she has done more than well by any standards. Yadav on more than one occasion has got it to the notice of Chandrababu that there was no indication of Telengana sentiment during the by polls in 2007. He pointed to the poor performance of the TRS leaders in 2007 and on more than one occasion had warned Naidu not to go the “T” route. But he feels that leaders like Y Dayakara Rao, and Kadiam Srihari instilled a sense of insecurity in Naidu and led the party astray from its founding principles of a unified state.
