CBI says, ‘Satyam Scam worth Rs.14,000 crores’

The charge-sheet filed by CBI has revealed some startling facts about the Satyam scandal. Earlier, the general consensus was that Mr.Ramalinga Raju has committed a financial fraud which summed up to Rs.7,800 crores. However, the extensive inquiry conducted by CBI has revealed that the fraud is worth around Rs.14,000 crores. This includes the losses incurred by the individual and institutionalized investors of Satyam. The 200 odd page charge sheet filed by CBI also reveals that the Rajus had amassed 1065 properties worth Rs.350 crores including 6000 acros of land, 40,000 square yards of housing plots. The charge sheet also stated that Ramalinga Raju and other promoters unauthorizedly took a loan of Rs.1,220 crores from the banks in the name of Satyam Computers apart from that Rs.1,230 crores that he took from 37 different firms floated by his own family members. In other news, the Chenchalguda jail authorities have been notified that it would cost Rs.8 lakhs for Mr.Raju’s treatment who’s suffering from Hepatitis C. The jail authorities are still bickering as to who would pay the bills. Mr.Ramalinga Raju’s wife has written a letter to the DGP that her family would pay the entire bill for his treatment and pleaded the DGP to not ignore his medical condition.
