AP Govt. decides to halt mining in Obulapuram
State Government has decided to issue orders to stop mining in all the six mines in Obulapuram. This decision was taken after strict orders from a Supreme Court panel which asked the AP stategovernment to stop mining and also to restore the boundary lines between the two states in Obulapuram. Now, the Government has stepped into action and will take up a fresh survey to demarcate the boundaries of the mines. Out of these six mines, 4 are owned by ObulapuramMining Company and another one is controlled by them; while the other mine is promoted by Bellary Iron Ore Private Limited. These orders would mean that not only themining , even the transportation of the mined ore will be stopped. The orders come as a huge embarrassment to Gali Janardhan Reddy, who’s the promoter of ObulapuramMining Company. This indirectly means that the Government believes that there are irregularities in the mining operations. We will have to wait and see how Janardhan Reddy will react to these orders, although he had earlier claimed that he welcomes a probe into the alleged irregularities.
