There are strong rumors in the Congress that the GHMC election is all but sewn up. Danam Nagender’s aides are confident that they have stuck a deal with the TDP strongman Talasani Srinivas Yadav. Danam and Talasani have on separate occasions voiced their opinion against a separate statehood formula. Talsani met Chandrababu for a 2-hour session yesterday and reportedly discussed many issues. But his aides say that nothing was conclusive. Talasani’s early morning session with the media was full of politically correct sound bytes. He repeatedly evaded questions about discussions with Naidu. He went on saying that everything was well and that he was a TD loyalist. He rubbished rumors about joining Congress and said that if he wanted power he could “demand and take it from Naidu” anytime he wants. When the TV reporter asked him if he was in a position to demand Naidu then why wasn’t he getting his way with Naidu on the Telengana issue, Talsani snapped back saying that there will be changes announced at an appropriate time.
