Under its new management Satyam is trimming down rather dramatically and indiscriminately. After first easing out employees under VPP program, they now have reportedly coined another term called Operational Transfer (OT). Employees have been called in and asked to move to different locations in an ad-hoc manner. Those employees whose children are in schools and have settled in a particular city and find it difficult to transfer are asked to leave. In a parallel development the new management is shutting down a few businesses (also called verticals) that it feels have no possibility of generating viable leads in this meltdown. Associates in these businesses have reportedly been asked to leave immediately. There is a feeling of total nervousness and uncertainty in the Satyam campuses in the city and the feeling is likely to get a lot worse before it gets any better.
