The TDP yesterday made a startling accusation that the Congress funded Loksatta with an intent to defeat the TDP in the recent elections. Chandrababu is reported to have made this remark after consulting with his associates and analyzing the post poll trends. The Lok Satta effect the TDP said was very pronounced in the RR, Hyderabad districts and also in towns with a pre-dominant middle class. For good measure the TDP also demanded that the Lok Satta party furnish the source of collection of the Rs. 59 crores it spent in the election. The Lok Satta party dismissed the allegations as wild imaginations of a frustrated party and leadership. Talasani Srinivas Yadav of the TDP said that parties like Lok Satta definitely hampered TDP’s prospects. He however declined to comment on the Rs. 59 crores allegation.
