CPM differs with TDP on EVMs

Disagreeing with the Telugu Desam Party, its ally Communist Party of India(Marxist) yesterday opined that there was no scope for largescale "tampering" of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to favour the ruling party.

Talking to reporters here, CPI(M) State Secretary B V Raghavulu said there was ample scope for technical snags in some EVMs. But there was no evidence to claim that the EVMS were tampered with to favour the ruling party. Sharing the concerns of All India Anna DMK, which had also faired poorly in the just-concluded Lok Sabha elections, TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu had expressed doubts over the "functioning" of the EVMs with polling agents in many places and even Presiding Officers lacking knowledge to activate the machines
