Chiru, JP may enhance House deliberations

This time around, debates in the Assembly would be quite interesting since two new leaders - Chiranjeevi and Jayaprakash Narayan - are going to open their voice in the House.

While Chiranjeevi has jumped into the political arena from the tinsel world, where he was the uncrowned king of the Telugu cinema world, the other is a former bureaucrat who had launched a movement for better political system.

While Chiranjeevi is going to be helped on the floor by 17 colleagues, Jayaprakash Narayan is the sole representative of the movement represented by the Lok Satta Party.

Their speeches in the House on various issues ranging from the problems of the people to social issues will attract the attention of the TV watchers, who will be eager to see them in their new avatar.

Given the fact that the deliberations in the legislature are always hot and it takes a lot of effort for any speaker to make his or her point heard and noted, it would be interesting to see how these two would fare on the Floor of the House. Interestingly, both the luminaries announced that they came into the politics to raise the quality of political discourse and add dignity to the deliberations.

Both of them, during their election campaign, lashed out at the present class of political leaders for their insensitivity to public issues and the falling quality of debate in the House.

The speech and the language used by the two will automatically draw comparison with the speeches of the political leaders like N Chandrababu Naidu, YS Rajasekhara Reddy, K Rosaiah (MLC), Dharmana Prasada Rao and K Jana Reddy, among others.

Interestingly, the two will sit in different rows because of their numbers in the House. Chiranjeevi will share the third bench in the front row meant for the floor leaders with E Rajendar of Telangana Rashtra Samiti and Jayaprakash Narayan will sit in the second row probably along with the CPM legislator Julakanti Rangareddy.

While Jayaprakash Narayan is well versed with the subjects of the state, Chiranjeevi have to hone his skills. The PRP president already announced that was going to attend the house regularly and was going to do his homework before attending the House. But the question is how much time these leaders will get in the House.
