Assembly session likely on June 1 or 2

The first session of the newly-constituted 13th Legislative Assembly is likely to be held on June 1 or June 2.

Although it will be a brief session, it will have a heavy agenda, mainly consisting of Constitutional formalities, including administration of oath to the newly-elected members, election of the Speaker and the Governor’s address.

The session is expected to last for five days as the Congress government plans to convene another session for tabling a full-fledged budget for 2009-10 later in the year. In the last budget session held in February, the Assembly adopted the budget for the first six months up to September 2009.
