The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), here on Thursday, released its manifesto, promising everything to everyone.
The TDP president, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, while releasing the “colourful brochure” containing the items of the manifesto, defended that the “cash transfer” scheme would reduce the economic inequalities in the society.
He said his party, if elected to power, would transfer Rs 2000 to each of the very poor family, Rs 1500 to each of the poor family and Rs 1000 to each of the middle class family, through the bank. The cash would be transferred to the women of the beneficiary families.
He further said he, if elected, would transfer power to the local bodies and his first signature would be on the file to empower the local bodies. The manifesto promised a 12-hour free power during day time to agriculture and interest-free loans to farmers up to Rs 25,000.
It promised to complete all the irrigation projects which were under construction in time. Colour television sets would be distributed to all the families living below the poverty line, The television is not only meant for entertainment but also acquiring knowledge, it said.
The manifesto further promised to ensure supply of each LPG cylinder at Rs 150. It said the party, if elected to power, would launch employment generation programme with a budgetary allocation of Rs 10,000 crore and promised Rs 1000 unemployment allowance a month.
The other promises are: Five days a week, interest-free loans up to Rs 25,000 to women and above it at 10 paise interest, Rs 500 crore allotment for the welfare of the farmers, power looms at 50 per cent subsidy to weavers, provision of employment for 25 lakh persons in private sector, increase of mess charges to Rs 900, own houses for employees three months before their retirement, house sites for journalists, protection to properties belonging to minorities, categorising dalit Christians as Scheduled Castes, DSA examinations every year and Rs 5000 salary to each Home Guard.
