The news of his matinee idol NTR Junior suffering grievous injuries in an accident shattered Kiran Manikanta Chowdary, an ardent fan of the Nandamuri clan.
The young man, working as a restaurant supervisor in Kammapalem area of Ongole town, immediately embarked on a ‘Cycle Yatra’ to the temple city to pray at the shrine of Lord Venkateswara for the speedy recovery of his demigod. He reached the city on Sunday after three days of cycling on the accident-prone NH5.
An embarrassing moment was in store for Kiran when he tried to trek the Tirumala hills along with a flexi-board bearing the images of late N.T. Rama Rao and NTR Junior. The TTD vigilance authorities snatched away the flexi-board, saying Tirumala was out of bounds for political activities. Though Kiran loudly wondered if there was any politics in his prayers, there was none to lend an ear. He brought it to the notice of the Tirupati Assembly constituency candidate K. Sankar Reddy, but he too expressed his helplessness.
