Poor turnout causes panic in Congress

Unlike in 2004, YSR’s meetings are simply not drawing crowds. The CM’s jaitra yatra which began in Chevella has failed to evoke the tremendous response that the Congress received in 2004. Instead what one sees today in district after district in the Telengana leg of the campaign is poor and disinterested crowds that seem bored of the repetitive nature of the CM’s speeches. His tirade on Chandrababu is frankly tiring to the ears. Repeated attempts to criticise Chandrababu as an “all-free” politician is not going down well in areas that has a strong TDP and TRS presence. In some areas the crowds are walking away even as the CM is delivering his speech. Veteran journalists covering the campaign say that the CM is definitely giving a feeling of being jaded and exhausted. The poor turnout to their party’s star performer is in turn causing panic in the Congress’s rank and file.
