Y S Jagan lashes out at Naidu

The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s son, Mr Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy on Thursday criticised the Telugu Desam president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, Eenadu chairman, Mr Ramoji Rao, and Andhra Jyothy managing director, Mr Vemuri Radhakrishna, for a mudslinging campaign against him as they failed to destabilise his father.

Mr Jaganmohan alleged that the trio were conspiring against the Congress and his family fearing that they would not have a future after the general elections. He ridiculed their allegations against Sandur power plant and his newspaper, saying that the funds used to establish the firms were raised in a transparent manner.

“Sandur power with 37 MW was established in 2004 before my father became the Chief Minister. I sold some shares and invested the money in Sakshi since media is a lucrative business. What is wrong in it? Is there any law that forbids a Chief Minister’s son from doing businesses,” Mr Jaganmohan asked. “All my partners like Nimmagadda Prasad are experts in business. They don’t need any favours from the government. Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy are carrying out a false propaganda to demoralise them.”

“Without Sakshi newspaper, the state would not have known about this mischievous campaign,” he added. He refused to file any defamation suit against them as he wanted them to reply only through newspapers. “I don’t want to waste time filing petitions as I will have to attend hearings,” he said.

He hinted that he was not averse to joining politics. “My well-wishers are pressurising me to contest from Kadapa. I have not yet decided on that since that may affect my paper,” he added.
