The Telugu Desam has decided to issue a showcause notice to former minister and senior party leader, Mr Talasani Srinivas Yadav, for anti-party activities and subsequently suspend him from the party. There are rumours that more party leaders are likely to revolt.
Before serving the showcause notice, the party constituted a three-member committee comprising Mr Yanamala Ramakrishmudu, Mr N. Janardhan Reddy and Mr Yerrannaidu. The committee summoned Mr Yadav to appear before it on Thursday at 11 am. If he fails to turn up action will be initiated. Mr Yadav skipped a meeting of city TD leaders convened by Mr Naidu in connection with the GHMC elections. This angered Mr Naidu who took exception to Mr Yadav’s behaviour. Mr Naidu reportedly discussed the issue with senior party leaders and they supported stringent action against the former MLA. Instead of suspending him from the party directly, the party high command decided to first issue the showcause notice and subsequently sack him.
