The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Praja Rajayam Party of actor-politician Chiranjeevi on Friday took "collective responsibility" for the humiliating defeat suffered by the party in the simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and the State Assembly. The PAC, which met for the second day Friday, owned "joint responsibility" for the poll set-backs, party sources said.
Party General Secretary and the actor's brother-in-law Allu Aravind had offered to resign during the stormy PAC meeting on Thursday after several party leaders held him responsible for the ignominious defeat. But Chiranjeevi was quick to come to his defence, saying that a "false propaganda" has been launched against Aravind by his detractors that party ticket was sold to undeserving candidates, in a bid to tarnish the party's image.
