The left is increasingly tilting towards the possibility of a hung verdict. The CPI, CPM are on the state level doing all they can to woo the PRP into the Kutami’s fold. According to sources close to the party they are sending strong feelers to Dr Mitra in PRP and trying to influence him to convince PRP to change tracks into Kutami’s direction. But the PRP think tank is in no hurry to forget how the left parties sidelined the PRP when it approached the communists for a pre-poll alliance. The left parties at that time cited lack of organizational structure and manifesto as PRP’s weakness. Today though the signal on the ground has changed. Nobody seems to be clear as to who is landing up where in terms of numerical strength. However all agree that PRP will in all likelihood decide the winner. So the left parties are trying to pre-empt the Congress in terms of wooing the PRP.
