Satyam to cut salaries by 20%

Even as Satyamites heaved a sigh of relief on the smooth take over by "Tech M", they were alarmed by media reports that they will not be paid their variable component of their remuneration for the year 2009-10. The report which appeared in a leading business daily is alleged o be more or less on the money. This would mean that for the next 12-months all Satyam employees would be paid 20% less than they were paid for the year 2008-09. A Satyam employee, that this correspondent spoke to said, "variable pay reduction would have a direct impact on our take home every month. This means that I will be taking home 20% less every month!", he said. Satyam's attrition meanwhile has stabilized at around 15%. This surprisingly is not all that high compared to the industry standard of 14%. Tech M meanwhile is in the process of consolidating its foothold in Satyam and is drawing up plans to see how to deal with the 12,000-member bench strength of Satyam.
