The two member European team comprising Brigitte Langenhagen and Ireland senator Fiona O Malley, were reportedly dismayed at what they called as a lack of fair democratic processes in Pulivendala, the constituency of the CM of A.P. They were of the opinion that electorate in the faction ridden areas were denied rights to franchise, and a few people in connivance with the officials resorted to intimidation, malpractice and abuse of power. The two members had visited Kadapa on behalf of the Society for Influence of Professionals On the Political System. Talking to media on Friday Brigette said the team had interacted with leaders of different political parties, officials, human rights activists and local people during the four-day visit. Kadapa is represented by C M’s brother Y S Vivekananada Reddy. They were of the opinion that the election commission needs to take special measures to ensure free and fair poll in the ensuing election. They pointed out that cases registered in connection with political killings are not solved for years.
