Soon after handing over the Satyam scam probe to CBI, the government today moved the Company Law Board (CLB) to supersede the boards of its two related companies -- Maytas Infra and Maytas Properties -- and restrain their directors from disposing of any property.
CLB will take a decision on the petition of the government after hearing the counsel of the two Maytas companies, which had filed a caveat with it about a week ago to prevent the government from seeking any ex-parte decision in the case.
"We have not passed any order. After hearing the party, whatever is necessary will be done... All the directors and the companies have been made party (in the case)," Chairman of CLB S Balasubramanian said.
The next date of hearing has been fixed at February 24.
Corporate Affairs Minister Prem Chand Gupta told reporters that the government had earlier ordered an inquiry by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) into the two Maytas companies promoted by the kin of disgraced founder Chairman of Saytam Computer Services B Ramalinga Raju.
Earlier in the day, Gupta told the Rajya Sabha that the government had yesterday ordered a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the Satyam fraud relating to fudging of the books of accounts of the company.
