Political observers in the state are convinced that the forthcoming GHMC elections will be the most expensive ones till date in the history of Hyderabad. A convoy of cars and SUVs could be seen welcoming the CM at each of his meetings. Yesterday the CM made a whirlwind tour of the city. He addressed 9 rallies and made promises that will take at least 740 crores to implement. Houses, water connections, road and power were promised by the ruling party. With the EC off their backs political leaders pulled all stops in terms of monies being spent. The TDP leaders are scheduled to begin their campaigning today. Vijaya Rama Rao has been put in charge of the campaign logistics and according to TD insiders each ward has been allotted up to a Crore of Rupees to begin with! PRP leaders who are now in Delhi will return tonight and they will begin their campaigning on Friday with an anti price rise rally which they expect will draw huge crowds.
