Balaiah keen on forming own group in TDP?

Is the Tollywood hero and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader, Mr Bala Krishna, forming his own group in the party? The Sunday night dinner hosted by Bala Krishna to many TDP functionaries at the Ebony Hotel near Annapurna Studios in the posh Banjara Hills area of the city is indicative enough that he is keen on having his own men in the party.

About 100 TDP activists drawn from different parts of the State attended the dinner hosted by Bala Krishna, who included senior party leaders like Mr Kambhampati Ram Mohan Rao, Mr Maganti Gopinath and Mr Ravi.Balaiah, as Bala Krishna is fondly called by his fans and well-wishers, distributed mementoes for all the participants and profusely thanked them for the cooperation that they had extended to him for his road shows during the election campaigning.

Balaiah covered over 6,000 km during the electioneering and he did not forget any leader who has extended warm welcome to him when he visited their areas as part of the road shows. Mr Bala Krishna made it a point to personally greet everyone who attended the dinner.

All this is a clear indication that Balaiah would like to have his own group in the party, some critics of Bala Krishna said while commenting on the Sunday dinner. Given the ‘use and throw’ nature of the TDP president and former chief minister, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, he can not afford to take a risk now, they felt.

What with speculation is now rife that the Maha Kutami, led by the TDP, is likely to form the next government, Bala Krishna might have found it necessary to have his supporters in the administration for having a say on the day-to-day happenings, they remarked.

However, party circles have flatly denied this when TNN tried to elicit their response on the matter. “Balaiah does not need to have his own group in the party. If he so wishes to become something either in the party or in the government when the Kutami comes to power, Mr Naidu is always feels happy to offer it to Mr Bala Krishna,” they observed.

But, those who are in the close circles of Balaiah did not dismiss the possibility of the Tollywood hero having his own followers in the party. “There is nothing wrong in it. When he has contributed something for the success of the TDP in the polls and is instrumental in the party coming back to power after a gap of five years, naturally he likes to have his own say in the matters,” is how the circles reacted.

What is significant is that none of the family members of Mr Bala Krishna, including those who have once projected him as the chief ministerial candidate of the TDP, was present at the Sunday’s dinner.
