Poll pundits who are trying to predict the outcome of the 2nd phase of the election unanimously agree on the fact that Guntur district with its 18 seats might hold the key for the outcome of the election. Participating in a late night TV show in a leading regional channel three prominent analysts in the panel suggested that there might be a totally partisan voting in Guntur this time. The district is known for such voting patterns. In 2004 polls it gave Congress 14 seats, and in 1999 polls the TDP got 16 seats. This time around many predict that the PRP might emerge as a surprise packet in Guntur. Even veterans like Rayapati Samnbasiva Rao of the Congress are finding it difficult to predict their prospects with any degree of certainty. The emotive issue of Polavaram waters is also likely to play in the minds of the electorate.
