Using his powers as appellate authority on the election advertisements for the first time, Chief Electoral Officer I. V. Subba Rao on Saturday cleared for display on TV channels, two advertisements of the Congress which were allegedly rejected by the three-member committee headed by additional Chief Electoral Officer Harpreeth Singh.
The action by the CEO followed a complaint lodged by Finance Minister K. Rosaiah, alleging that Mr. Singh was biased Of the two ads, one (duration of 44 seconds) was titled “YS Word” and focussed on the Congress’ goals to provide water to every field, provide employment to all and provide a light to every house. The second ad (77 seconds) named “Protection to minorities, Congress agenda” related to a plan to provide free education to minorities from LKG to PG.
