Noted comedian Brahmanandam and acid-tongued film maker and actor Posani Krishna Murali are likely to be in the race for the Assembly elections.
The Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) of Mega Star Chiranjeevi is planning to field Brahmanandam from Sattenapalle segment and Krishna Murali from Ponnur seat in the highly politically conscious Guntur district.
Brahmanandam hails from Chaagantipalem in Sattenapalle constituency and he was a Telugu teacher in the local school before entering the film world about two decades ago. He has donated liberally for several philanthropic activities in his home district, which earned him laurels there. The PRP wants to cash in on this.
Posani Krishna Murali’s Peda Kakani falls in Ponnur Assembly segment. Krishna Murali had played an active role in student union elections while he was graduating from Nagarjuna University. A known baiter of the Congress, he joined the PRP a couple of months ago “attracted by the policies” of Chiranjeevi.
Though staying in Hyderabad pursuing his professional career in films, Krishna Murali has been maintaining cordial relations with his friends, relatives and well-wishers back home. This might be advantageous for the PRP if he is fielded from Ponnur, PRP sources said here on Wednesday.
As Mr Dhulipala Narendra Kumar is in the race from the TDP, the PRP is planning to field Krishna Murali from the seat as he too belongs to the same community.
