After so many names doing rounds for Vijayawada West seat from the Praja Rajyam Party, the latest name is film comedian Ali. It is learnt that he joined the party only after taking the assurance to this effect.
When Jaleel Khan was overlooked by the Congress for that seat, the PRP anticipated that he would join the party. Golden Pavilion proprietor Basheer is also in the race. Though Koneru Prasad’s candidature was almost finalised it had to be withdrawn in the last moment as he has no citizenship. The party is yet to take a decision on the selection of candidates for Vijayawada and Bandar Lok Sabha segments. As Reddiah was chosen for Eluru Lok Sabha seat in BC quota the party feels that it can pick up OC candidates for both Bandar and Vijayawada seats. It seems it is waiting for the Telugu Desam to select Lok Sabha candidates so that it can also select strong candidates.
