Star Night expected to raise Rs. 10 crore

Today's star-studded event in Gacchibowli Stadium, Hyderabad is touted to collect a whopping amount of Rs. 10 crore. As the entertainment event is targeted to help the flood victims of Andhra Pradesh, Movie Artistes Association's drive saw immense support from film personalities (even of other States), corporates, sponsorers etc. TV9, the satellite channel that has bagged the rights to telecast the show live, has promised Rs. 3.50 crore to MAA. Apart from the money guaranteed, whatever extra amount is received by means of advertising revenue during the 4 hours of live telecast in the prime time by TV9 will be given away to the MAA. Proceeds from tickets przied at a staggering Rs. 1 lakh (seating capacity of 900), Rs. 10,000 (capacity of 1500) and Rs. 1,000 (capacity of 2500), are going by way of charity.

As MAA is taking the event as a prestigioius one, many producers cancelled the shootings for three days (6th, 7th and 8th) to ensure overwhelming presence of artistes and technicians to the event. Though the Telugu film industry has raised lakhs of rupees for noble causes in the past with the money raised through cricket matches and star events, this one is the biggest in scale and money generated so far.

Stars from Chennai, Bangalore, Thiruvanantapuram and even Mumbai are flying in for the gala action. Well-known artistes, major and minor stars, ace comedians, celebrity technicians - everyone is going to give a treat to our eyes. Wish the event becomes a grand success and goes a big way in coming to the rescue of displaced and homeless victims in the State, and sets an example for emulation by other industries.
