Buddhi Thakkavayee Congress ki Vote Yaesinnamu!
This is the feeling that the man on the street has today. In channel after channel they are expressing the same sentiment. Many say at this rate they might have to mix water and rice drink ganji or gruel! Prices of essentials have crossed all acceptable levels. Pulses are hovering around the Rs. 100 per kilo mark. Each egg is costing Rs.3! Chicken is touching Rs. 185 per kilo. The cheapest variety of fish available is Rs. 83 per kilo. Prawns have crossed Rs. 225 a kilo. Vegetables are on an average quoting Rs. 50 a kilo across the board. Monthly groceries for a family of four have now crossed the Rs. 3000 mark even on a most conservative basis. And the irony is these rise in prices are not even reaching the farmer. All the money is gobbled by a coterie of traders who seem to be working hand-in-hand with the officials of the PDS and fair price shops. The government seems to be least bothered about the harrowing impact of the rising prices on the common man.
