It was a 1-on-1 with a difference. Talasani Yadav of the TDP met his boss Chandrababu Naidu and told him in no uncertain terms that the TDP had to jettison the separate statehood stand as early as the next month’s GHMC elections. When Chandrababu tried to counsel him against losing credibility by changing stances so frequently. Talasani though would have none of it. He countered Chandrababu by saying that the TDP was running the risk of losing its very presence in the Hyderabad and RR Districts and it was very difficult to motivate and sustain cadre over a losing cause for a period of six and more years. Talsani is reported to have emphasised upon Chandrababu that the advent of Lok Satta too had contributed to TDP’s humiliating defeat in the polls. He said the urban middle class which had all along sailed with the TDP was now weaning away to Lok Satta, which seems to have developed a strong rapport with (non-Telengana) settlers in Hyderabad. Chandrababu on his part cautioned Talasani Yadav and reminded him about how the statehood cause had ruined political careers of seasoned leaders like Devender Goud. The TDP leader has advised restraint and promised to look into Yadav’s request.
