Satyam is restructuring rapidly. There are some tectonic shifts happening in its infrastructure strategy in India. In Hyderabad alone the Company by the end of Q3 will have scaled down its operations from 14 buildings to a mere 2 buildings. Except for the STC in Bahdurpally and the Info City in Madhapur, which are owned by Satyam, all other premises will be vacated shortly. The Company expects to save Rs. 100 crores in rentals in Hyderabad alone. According to a source inside Satyam the premises in STC are packed. “We have situations where 1-terminal is being shared by 2 associates in some blocks in the STC”, the source said. Employees have been asked to come in shifts too. Offices in Mayfair, Karkhana, and Secunderabad are likely to be vacated by end of July. While the ones in Begumpet and, Hi-Tec might take a while longer. Similar strategies are being worked out in Chennai and Bangalore also.
