The Speaker, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, announced that the election of a Deputy Speaker will held on June 9. Nominations for the post will be accepted up to 5 pm on June 8 and if necessary the election will be conducted in the House on June 9 by the Speaker, a bulletin issued on Friday said.
The Congress MLA from Tenali Assembly seat, Mr Nadendla Manohar, who has been elected as a legislator for the second time, has already been named by the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, for the post. If only one nomination is filed on June 8, Mr Manohar will be declared elected unanimously by the Speaker on the following day. The Chief Minister, Dr Rajasekhar Reddy had asked legislative affairs minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, to talk to leaders of the Opposition before formally making an announcement.
