The TDP is now seriously examining the possibility of garnering as many independents as it can. The coalition patchwork is being tested severely with KCR making his intentions clear that he is not averse to supporting either the BJP or the Congress at the centre. In the immediate future this could be Naidu’s strategic undoing in his pursuit of power. The TDP think tank is now suspecting that the voter spoilt for choice has delivered a fractured mandate. In his politburo meeting Naidu is reported to have told leaders to keep all options open for people who want to work with the TDP. The TDP is especially keen on establishing ties with the PRP as it feels that Chiranjeevi’s party might hold the keys to the secretariat. To this end Naidu has asked ex-TDP men in the PRP to see if they can influence Chiranjeevi and tilt him towards the TDP.
