YSR’s decision to not retain major part of the sitting MLAs might cost him dear in Costal Andhra. As many as 28 sitting MLAs have not been given tickets in the Congress list for Coastal Andhra. The new ticket holders are not getting any cooperation from the current lot. And the PRP factor is always there. Kaapus form a major portion of the coastal Andhra vote bank. Chiranjeevi’s PRP is expected to cut a large swathe in the Congress’s vote share this time around. When this is coupled with the dissidence factor one can expect a substantial impact in at least 23 of these 28 seats. The Congress has tried its best to woo the Kaapus, but it remains to be seen as to how many of them will vote for it this time. Chiranjeevi on his part is confident of a good show in coastal Andhra. PRP’s electoral gains, many political analysts predict, will come at the expense of the Congress.
