Geetha Arts bags 'Avatar' AP rights for Rs.4 Crores!


Geetha Arts, the production company, has had a dream run at the box office this year with their productions Ghajini and Magadheera smashing all box office records. Now, the same company has turned its attention to another film which is perhaps the most talked about film in the world today. The latest news is that, Geetha Arts has bagged the entire rights for James Cameroon’s “Avatar” for a whopping sum of Rs.4 Crores. They will distribute the movie all over AP, except for the IMAX screen in Prasads, Hyderabad. Twentieth Century-Fox Corporation holds the rights to screen the film in IMAX screen in Hyderabad. The movie has been produced with a budget of more than $250 million and is one of the most expensive movies ever made in the history of world cinema. And with worldwide distribution and publicity, reports suggest that the production cost might have shot up to $400 million! The makeup and appearance of the characters in the film has led to intense speculation. Rumour is that the film is based on Indian epic, Ramayana and the character is based on Lord Rama. 60% of the film is filled with visual effects and the other 40% is live action. The movie will hit the screens all over the world on December 18th. In AP, it will be released in Telugu, Hindi and English.
