Congress-PRP alliance treading on a double edged sword

Less than 24 hours after the news broke out that Congress and PRP will form an alliance to fight the GHMC polls, all hell broke loose within Congress party. While PCC President, has been instrumental from Congress side in forming this alliance, there are ample number of Congress leaders’ who are opposing it. Prominent among those who are resenting the alliance are Vijayawada MP, Lagadapati Rajgopal, J C Diwakar Reddy, Jeevitha, Rajasekhar. While Lagadapati and JC opined that it’s better if PRP merges withCongress, Jeevitha and Rajasekhar have openly criticized this alliance. A section of the media even went a step ahead and concluded that this alliance was formed to control the Jagan’s clout. On the other hand the opposition parties stated that PRP has lost its credibility. However, PRP is confident that thisalliance will help the party a lot. Senior leader, Hari Ram Jogayya addressed a press conference and said that their aim is make Chiranjeevi, the CM of AP in 2014 elections. PRP was formed just a year ago amidst great fanfare with an intention to bring social justice for all but the party had a face a massive defeat in elections earlier this year. The party even took a tough stand against Congress and the war of words took an ugly turn. However, both parties seem to have put their past behind and forged an alliance to fight head on against TDP and other parties. And they are doing it all for the ‘people’. We will have to wait and see how ‘people’ respond to this alliance.
