Low Budget’ Horror film (Paranormal Activity) earns $60 mn in US

A horror film which recently released in US has shocked the trade pundits and scared away other big films at the box office. The film titled ‘Paranormal Activity’, made with a budget of $15,000 has earned more than $65 million within one month of its release in US. Dubbed as a ‘No Budget’ film, this film has beaten other big budget films like Amelia, Saw VI which were released in the past one month. Debutante director, Oren Peli is the one behind this sensation which is being touted as one of the scariest films of all time. Interestinglythe film had no script, no known actors and was completely shot on a handycam within one week. The film had a limited release on September 25th and the overwhelming response coaxed the distributor, Paramount Pictures, to release the film across US. Most of the marketing for this film was done on internet and now it’s a cyberspace sensation. Ten years ago, an independent film, “Blair Witch Project” had created a similar sensation and ‘Paranormal Activity’ has repeated the magic again.
