Chandrababu seems to have developed second thoughts to take a solo plunge in the ensuing civic polls. After the drubbing his party received in the Hyderabad and RR Districts in the April polls, the party seems to be confused as to the stand it should take. An alignment with the TRS has resulted in the party being alienated by the sizeable non-locals or settlers in the twin cities. All of them have swung en-masse to the Congress. It is by now a formality that the TDP will bid good bye to the TRS. This time however it is all in probability likely to align with the PRP, though the PRP is clear that it will under no circumstances align with Chandrababu. That leaves the TDP with the BJP. The BJP on its part too is keen on dropping the Telengana issue as the party’s think-tank feels that the pro-Telengana stand has given it no political mileage whatsoever.
