Kiran Kumar Reddy well versed with rules






Well versed with rules and procedures of the House, four-time legislator Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy, who became the 17th speaker of the Andhra Pradesh state Assembly today, has impressive credentials to back his elevation.

Born on September 13, 1960 in a political family of former state cooperation minister N Amarath Reddy, he has exhibited leadership qualities since his student days when he won the Students Union elections in the Nizam College in the city. Elected to the State Assembly from Piler, he has represented Vayalapad Assembly Constituency thrice from 1989 to 1994, 1999 to 2004 and again from 2004 to 2009.

As the Government Chief Whip in the 12th State Assembly, he exhibited his ability to defend the government from the Opposition onslaught during heated debates.

He has been a member of the Public Undertakings Committee and Assurances Committee in the past. He has also been a member of the House Committee which went into the scholarship scam. A commerce graduate from the Nizam College, he did Law from the Osmania University. He had his schooling in Hyderabad Public School and intermediate studies in St Joseph's Junior College here.

A good cricketer, he has represented Hyderabad in under-22, under-25 matches and also in premier Ranji Trophy matches.
