Telengana Congress leaders are putting in place a Plan B that envisions a Congress government in the state without YSR in the chair. The broad strokes of the plan are: get TRS and PRP in and promote a backward leader from Telengana region as a puppet CM. The names doing the rounds are D.Srinivas, current PCC President, Kesava Rao, ex PCC President and Ponnala Lakshmaiah current irrigation minister. For good measure two names- that of Suresh Reddy – current speaker and Purandareswari Devi, Congress MP and Central Minister are thrown in as smokescreens. But clearly sources close to the CM are saying that Ponnala Lakshmaiaih may emerge as a consensus candidate. One thing though is certain. In the case of Congress failing to get an absolute majority (very likely scenario) or reaching a figure close to majority (difficult but not impossible scenario) the power brokers in Delhi will have no choice but to bow to the pressures of the leaders from Telengana and ease YSR out of the CM equation.
