Gaffe: PRP leader predicts TDP victory

Prajarajyam leader Tammineni Sitaram’s enthusiasm to share his views on the party’s performance ended in a gaffe when he inadvertently stated that the TDP would come to power in the state.
Addressing a press conference at the PRP office, the senior leader said that the large turnout of women and youth during elections was an indicator of the silent revolution that would usher in real democracy in the state after May 16. He was so carried away by the party’s performance in north coastal Andhra that he did not realize his folly until it was brought to his notice by the mediapersons.
Though he promptly jumped on to the dais to issue a clarification, the camera persons conveyed to him that his speech was already aired to viewers as the media briefing was telecast live. He, however, issued an appeal seeking apology from people in the state.
The PRP leader claimed all first-time voters, people below poverty line and farm labourers had voted for the party and this was good enough to give PRP the much needed majority to form a government on its own. "We are on our way to a historic moment in state politics. People have supported Chiranjeevi for his untiring effort over the last seven months to bring about a social change in the political system. It is only a matter of time before people in the state get a feel of what real democracy means," the five-time legislator said.
